Poster Font Planning

When creating my poster, I decided on two fonts that I could put to the test and ask people within our targeted audience which font that they found would be most likely used to appeal the audience in a horror film.

Which font do you think would be the best font to use for a Horror film Poster?

From the questionnaire, I found out that the first font (displayed in the chart above) is the font that the targeted audience preferred. The font that was the most popular font as it has the most connotations of horror such as the red blood dripping effect that is with the font. This font will really attract the audience's attention and make the audience aware that this film is going to be a horror film due to the noticeable connotations of horror.

The second font is very contrasting from the first font and I purposely did this to show how a font style can make the huge difference in a film poster being stereotypically noticed about a Romance film and a film poster being about a Horror film. The second font is very feminine and is not the stereotypical representation of what a horror film should be like. Using two contrasting fonts shows the clear division between what both of the fonts represent and each different font will clearly show the audience how a font can change the persona of a film poster.

Making sure that the targeted audience recognise the font to a certain film is very good as this makes the film trailer become recognised and attracts a wider audience.
